With the popularity boom in the use of hybrid golf clubs, some golfers actually buy hybrids, add them to their bag, then go out on the course with no idea of when and how to use them. While a case can be made that there are many legitimate times during a round of golf when your best shot is using a hybrid. Let’s talk about the top 3 ways to get the most out of your hybrid clubs.

The situation that comes up most often that gets the average golfer in trouble is anytime he has to pull out a long iron. That’s right. You are in the middle of the fairway, maybe 190 yards to the hole. You feel pretty good about your situation, that is until you realize your only hope is to pull out a 3 or 4 iron. And then you realize that there are a lot of bad things that can happen to you with either of those clubs in your hand, even if you are in the middle of the fairway.

So there is your first, best, most often faces situation when you should definitely use your hybrid clubs. Even if you mishit the shot, you have a much better chance of the ball going straight when using a hybrid as opposed to one of those long irons. Think about it. Your long irons have blade like club heads that can easily stick into the ground if your swing is not just right. If you stick the head into the ground before hitting the ball flush you have no way of knowing how far offline the ball will travel. Hitting the ball left and right is no way to work your way around a golf course.

But with the hybrid club, even a poor swing on the ball can result in a decent shot. OK, maybe the ball is not going to get all the way to the green. But you have a greatly improved chance of hitting the ball straight and as long as there is no trouble short of the green, your ball lives to be struck another time without taking a penalty shot.

So believe it or not, there it is. The time you should use your hybrids is as simple as saying to use them as often as you can!
