There are various watch repair tools and technologies available and we will discuss some of them in detail. These tools are different for different watches and have to be used specifically to the repair of that watch.
Expensive timepieces: For the watches which are rather expensive and have to be repaired with care; it is important to handle the process to repair these watches and the correct watch repair tools have to be used to repair them. These tools are available with the authorized dealers of that brand.
Antique pocket watches: These watches have been widely used by people and they have complex components and parts including hands, small precision screws and gears. There are some micro parts as well which require specialized tools such as anti-magnet tweezers, magnification tools, pin removers and installers, precision screwdrivers, demagnetizers and precision pliers.
Metallic parts of the watch: Watch repair of the metallic parts such as links, metal pieces and bands may require total replacement or some repair depending upon the severity of damage. For the repair of these parts, soldering tolls, precision torches and shears are required so that the broken parts can be welded or attached. These kinds of tools are similar to the precision tools used by professionals in making jewelry.
Digital watches: In digital watches, the metallic components are not present and they have new technology based electronics and other innovative parts. Watch repair for these parts includes display components, surface mounted electronic devices and micro motors.
There are other tools used in professional watch repair. They are mainly for cleaning and lubricating purposes. In order to remove the dirt and dust particles from the metallic parts of the watches; an ultrasound bath containing non-corrosive solvents can be used. Synthetic lubrication oil is applied after the watch repair and setting the parts back to their original positions so that they are able to function smoothly.
