When mailing DVDs or similar materials like CDs, one has to take certain precautions to make sure their items arrive to their destination safely. One should examine proper packaging options to make sure they are taking the best steps to retain the good condition of their item. A DVD mailer is an excellent option available that one can use.
DVD mailers can be purchased from the post office, a delivery company, or at a home office supply store. There are many different types of mailers to choose from. Which type of mailer is best will depend on if one is sending the DVD in a package or just in its original form. One will also need to consider how many DVDs they are sending in their packaging choice.
If one plans to send a DVD without a case, one will probably need to take precautions to protect the item, more so than if it was in a case. If the DVD is only protected by a simple case such as a bendable plastic sleeve, additional precautions are necessary as well. One may choose a padded form of packaging, such as a bubble mailer. These items use bubble wrap to cushion the interior of the otherwise typical envelope. One could choose a rigid fiberboard box that is harder to bend than an envelope. One can choose to package a DVD in a simple box that is well padded. One should keep in mind that the larger and heavier the item is, it is likely that it will be more expensive to ship.
If sending the DVD in a case, one can purchase a box that is sized to especially fit a case or several cases. Fiberboard is an option for cased items as well and are often referred to as cardboard dvd mailers. A simple kraft envelope will likely work as well, though one may want to write a warning on the envelope requesting that it be kept flat. One can take other precautions as well, such as selecting a higher end shipping process.
