Mobile touch recognition computers can be categorized into two types of computing devices. The first is the touch screen laptop tablet also known as the slate PC for its static state in contrast to the convertible touch screen laptop. Each of these different computers have their own specific functions while the convertible laptop is much more versatile and suited for common pc users, the slate PC is designed for a much more specific purpose.

The tablet PC will not come with a keyboard or mouse pad and everything is done directly through the touch screen. There is the option to add a USB keyboard and mouse if the need should ever arise but usually there is no reason to. These mobile PCs are much lighter than the convertible touch screen laptop computers because the computer and the screen is the same piece of equipment. There is no option other than to turn it on and interact directly with the screen. The full sized display makes it easy to make handwritten notes directly onto the screen with the provided stylus and is perfect for job functions that require the user to input notes while on their feet.

The convertible touch screen laptop computers use to have several problems but very recent advances in technology and design has pretty much eliminated all of these concerns. The swivel screen allows this laptop to convert from a standard laptop into a tablet by allowing the screen to turn 180 degrees and fold backwards over the keyboard. It is not as lightweight as the slate PC which is why the true tablets exist. Nonetheless for people who need to work on their laptops like a standard computer and then have the added benefits of a touch recognition system at their finger tips, pun intended, the convertible touch screen laptop computers are the answer.
