It’s that time of year again. The sky’s blue, the sun is out and every girl and guys thoughts turn to ….. bare shoulders! You know how it goes, your little strapless floaty number comes out to play and you find yourself digging around your lingerie drawer in search of last year’s strapless bra. Well, leave it where it is and reach for your purse, because this year’s model is the Fashion Forms bandeau bra!
Readily available through all usual internet, catalogue and high street retailers, this bra range is an interesting construct of nylon and spandex, so it adjusts around the female form in a figure-hugging fashion that fits like a glove (but don’t mistake the two, as this would obviously be far less comfortable)!
Although the bras do come with removable straps, one of the advantages that sets this bandeau bra aside from its competitors is the additional stitching between the cups which, whilst again allowing for that figure-hug look, also offers additional support where it is needed most, so that less pressure is put on that band across the ribs when the bra is being worn straplessly.
It is an easy wash ’n’ wear bra, ideal for holiday packing as well so what is the only minor niggle? According to all stockists, the Fashion Forms bandeau bra comes in three sizes – small, medium and large – with the large being for an approximately 36” chest. Yet the average British bra size in 2010 has expanded from 34B to 36C (The Guardian, 16th May 2010), so my point is, 36 is average, not large, so whilst ladies of average boobature and below are catered for, what of those who are in the true realms of a ‘large’ chest carriage? Once again missing out on the summer’s most wanted item, it would seem.
