Now that we are entering the second half of the year, toy makers everywhere are starting to ramp up production to get their toy lines up to speed to prepare for the inevitable Christmas onslaught. As with every other retail sector, the winter period is the busiest time of the year. 2009 was a great year for toy makers over Christmas, with the global recession not impacting on sales as much as some had expected. For 2010 you can expect to see the follow toys do quite well:

An unusual thing to appear in Christmas lists some might say, but the Banzai Curve water park is sure to do well this year. A massive water slide designed for lots of kids to play on in the back yard, the makers of the Wipeout Curve have dubbed the item a Water Park. With a built in water cannon, paddling pool, and climbing wall, they may have a point. The Curve offers a lot of features that other rival water slides don’t offer, and it also has the advantage of being made by Banzai, a company with a proven track record of making interesting slides that kids love. This particular model’s main attraction is the curved slide which bends 180 degrees to loop back in on itself into the paddling pool, with water jet sprays on the upper arches over the slide. It may be expensive, but many children will be looking for this item as a gift this year.

Next up there are a range of toys that have already been successful in 2009 – the My Pillow Pets range. Featuring a loveable selection of cuddly characters for kids to hug and hold, the Pillow Pets brand is hoping to have another successful year over the winter period. Last year prices were massively inflated over the recommended retail when the company making them failed to produce enough to cope with the massive demand.

Many more toys have been made this year so hopefully kids won’t have to go without. The most likely toy to succeed with kids this year is My Pillow Pets Panda – a loveable panda that folds down into a soft plush pillow by unbuckling the adhesive strip on his belly. Since they are so cute and cuddly, kids have no problems at all playing with these toys, and the company responsible for making them truly hopes that 2010 will bring a similar level of success in line with last year.
