Trying to buy the right audio equipment is like floating in the ocean surrounded by life preservers, but only one is good and you do not know which the right one to buy is. And every question you ask just leads to two more, such as, “What is the hertz, free air, ported or sealed, do I need it? And how much, if I do?” You can skip all the rest of the non-crucial information and go straight for the heart by asking what size of subwoofer is needed for a bass sound which has deep thumps, and they will reply with the 15 inch subwoofer will do just fine.
The next time you have to go shopping for something, you can make a list of technical terms that you should know, and ask three or four of those questions. By only asking for three or four, at a time, it does not seem like such a chore. Also, you are more likely to remember it if you do not try to cram too much in at once. But soon, it will start making more sense to you and then you will be the one explaining it to your friends.
Why does the bass sound better through a 15″ subwoofer instead of one of the other ones? The quantity of air and bass going through your subwoofer should be the same. You can test this out quite simply. Just put your hand in front of the subwoofer and each time you hear those deep sounds of bass, you will also feel a passage of air. To select any smaller subwoofer would give you an inferior bass quality.
You may have to get a little creative when you are trying to find a place in your house to put the subwoofer. You may have to move some of the things you have out there, but it is all worth it. Or you can build a shelf for the wall. In a small car; however, you may not have a choice as there just is not that type of space.
That should clear up any questions you had about what size subwoofer you should get to have a deep bass sound resonate from it. Anything smaller just will not satisfy an audiophile. Or even those young people who believe that the bass signature of any car is having all the windows rattling with that sound.
