Kinect is Microsoft’s answer to the Nintendo, and will be released as an accessory for the Xbox 360. It’s not a Wii replacement, because the Wii still relies on controllers in order to control video games. Can you really control a video game without a controller? With Kinect, your body will become the controller, and you’ll be able to play video games in an exciting and revolutionary new way. By combining two different types of cameras in order to see your image as well as perceive your depth, Kinect can see all of your body parts and how they are moving, and translate that into video game motions. Add in voice recognition software, and you’ll truly be able to play a game without a controller in hand.

Such new technology gets people excited and wanting to know the answer to many different questions. Although I do not have all of the answers, here are some of the Kinect release details as well as info about Kinect games.

Release Date – Kinect is slated to be released in the fall of the 2010 (specifically November 4, 2010). It will be here just in time for the exciting holiday season, and when other popular video games will be coming to the market so be sure that you pre order it so that it isn’t sold out.

Cost – People want to know what this new technology will cost, and I don’t blame them. In this economy, how much Microsoft tries to sell this for will determine where it becomes popular or not. The official cost is going to be $149.99, and it comes with one game.

Games – People worry that every game will have to this this as the control scheme, but that’s just not the case. There will be games that are specifically made to use the Kinect whole-body controls exclusively, other games that will incorporate it at some parts, and other games that will simply not use Kinect at all.
