If you want to learn how to jump higher, sit back and take a few minutes to read this article. Don’t just go out and buy the first jump program that you come across. Before I jump into reviewing some of the top jump programs out on the market, lets take some time to get a little education on how the human body responds to certain types of training.
If you look around any gym you will notice that guys are looking bigger, better and more muscular than they did about 15 years ago. The reason being that people have learned how to properly train their bodies to look exactly how they want them. About 20 years ago, you would only see bodybuilders looking strong and ripped but now almost any kid knows how to get that way. This has to do with both the knowledge behind proper training as well as the supplements available. There is more technology put into protein powders and other supplements now than there ever was before. Arnold had to create his own protein drinks because there wasn’t a store where he could go buy something to help with his muscle gain.
Of course there are people that cheat and use steroids, but everyone knows that steroids lead to very bad health complications in the future so you should never use them.
Just like guys have learned to sculpt their bodies in amazing ways, people have learned how to properly train the vertical jump so that anyone can learn how to jump high enough to dunk a basketball or spike a volleyball. The same holds true that 20 years ago, not very many people could jump high and people actually thought that you were either a natural born jumper or you were doomed to never be able to jump high. This is very false and has been proven wrong a thousand times over by people that can barely jump learning how to increase their vertical leap by over 10 inches. This is due to experts trying different training techniques and tweaking them until they find what works.
It turns out that lifting heavy weights in the gym does not work as well as the experts originally thought. There is a very delicate balance between doing what are known as plyometrics and strength training.
Plyometrics are exercises where you only use your body weight to jump, either onto boxes or on the flat ground. The most important thing to remember when doing plyos is to never rest too long in between reps. By too long, that means that when you feel your toes hit the ground, you should be jumping again. This causes the athlete in training to get very tired very quickly and this is the reason that you will only be doing low reps when performing any type of plyometric workout.
Now there are some jump programs that have their athletes doing hundreds of reps and this is a huge mistake. One such program is Air Alert. Never train using the air alert workouts because you will run a high risk for injury. Another huge scam is anything done by Luke Lowrey. He is one of the biggest jokes in the vertical training community, but he would have you think that he is the best jump trainer in the world so that you will buy his current product that he is promoting to get some money, I believe that right now it is called the vertical jump report. It changes often because too many people complain about it being a scam so it gets a bad reputation quite quickly.
Now all vertical jump training programs aren’t bad. There are a couple that are good. Jacob Hiller as well as Cade Orvin are legit trainers that provide great insight on how to properly train and they have jump programs that will teach you how jump higher as well.
Remember that if you see a picture on any program that looks a little fake, it is. If a program uses a fake picture, like the one used in the vertical development jump bible, you can guarantee that they will have no problem deceiving you into buying their bogus product that doesn’t work. Some of these people are charging over $100 dollars for their jump training e-books. Never pay that much for a jumping workout. You can get the best of the best for under $75, but always beware of the scams. About 9 out of 10 products in the jumping niche are complete scams. But if you find that 1 diamond in the rough, you can be jumping anywhere from 10 to 12 inches higher in a matter of 10 to 12 weeks. Now this is not possible if you are already at a 40 inch vertical but most people are around 30 inches if they play a sport consistently. So make yourself a new goal of having a 40 plus inch vertical and work hard and smart to try to get it.
