If you’re thinking about starting a workout program or if you’re already an experienced fitness enthusiast, you might want to consider options for small, compact fitness equipment that you can use at home or while travelling. One option that helps for strength training, cardio and flexibility are Flexcords. They’re exercise bands that come in varying levels of resistance and can provide hundreds of different workouts. Here are a few pros and cons:
Pros:
1. They’re great for beginners and also experts. You can do the most basic moves and over time work up to some very difficult strength training.
2. They’re durable, light and portable. They can be stored easily making them great as home gym equipment.
3. They work well with the popular P90X program.
4. The price is right. You can find the whole system for about $60 or the smaller system for about $30.
5. You don’t need to switch handles. Each band has a handle attached.
6. They’re great for interval training workouts. You can quickly switch to them and they can be used in conjunction with other exercises. For example, you can be doing an upper body exercise with the Flexcord and a lower body lunge or squat.
Cons:
1. The handles aren’t as nice as the ones on Ripcords or Bodyelastics. This is a BIG con if you plan to use your cords a lot. They’re not as ergonomic as the other brands.
2. Short warranty, but probably due to their low price.
3. You need to learn how to effectively use them. The opportunities are endless, but you have to be willing to work on finding a workout routine that works for you.
Overall, I really like my Flexcords. I had to spend some time finding the right workout and I really have to force myself to change it up every once in a while, but overall they’ve really helped with my strength training.
