When I was growing up in the 1990’s, the end of July meant school was about to begin and thus a trip to Wal-Mart was in order.  All of my friends, and myself included, had to have the nicest pencils and pens (Pilot), the coolest shoes(Nike), and latest trend in clothes (also Nike).  However, it was very important not to forget one item, in particular.  The item I am referring to is a backpack.  Jansport had the best quality backpacks when I was of high school age.  Of course, nowadays many schools ban backpacks altogether.  However, there is a rising competitor for Jansport.  You have certainly heard of Under Armour apparel, but still not everyone knows that this company is in the backpack market as well.  Today, let us compare Jansport versus Under Armour and see who comes out on top.

Under Armour backpacks were initially targeted toward those that loved to spend time outdoors doing things like hiking or camping out.  There durability and toughness made it ideal to lug one around on the rough terrain.  However, in the last few years these bags have been popping up all over high school and college campuses as their marketing to those ages has increased.

For a teacher who works in a private school like me, Christmas Season is absolutely the best days of our lives. Well, considering much how less our salaries are compared to those who work in government agencies and institutions. We are best compensated during the holidays with gift checks and numerous presents. You’re going to want to dress up and rock that dress you saw your friend wearing the other night. Problem is, your friend is an hourglass, and you’re a pear. Obviously, she doesn’t want to wear any dress that will make her look wide up top. She can and should flare out the bottom of her look, though. This is why the empire strikes back. It will help bring out the hip area, which will get rid of that upper body bonanza. She should feel free to flaunt her skinny arms and legs going sleeveless (just not halter or strap) and even shorter with the length. Not only is a plunging neckline glamorous, it is slimming for the upper body. Same with the vee neck.

Our next female has the pear body type. Small arms, shoulders, bust line, legs, but her hips and thighs are gifts from mother earth! She should put a big smile on her face though, because 65% of women out there have this body image, therefore, dress designers and wedding dress designers are tailoring their products to her.

She doesn’t have to hide her lower body, but making it appear slimmer is key. She can start with black or dark skirts and lighter tops. The a line cut is perfect for her as it will show off her slim waist line while thinning out her hip and thigh area. Again, empire works well. If she plans to widen your upper body with sleeves or puffier tops, he shouldn’t go too bold because she doesn’t want to head over to the apple shape. It’s better to go with less up top, where che can get the cleavage going, show off the arms and shoulders, and draw the attention up and away from the hippy hippy shake area.

Yoga practice can be dynamic at times and practitioners tend to perspire a lot even though the room is well ventilated. The ideal yoga pants should therefore be able to absorb any perspiration quickly without showing any dark spots that can be unappealing. Even though the pants can be made from fabrics such as cotton, cotton/lycra, nylon or a combination of all three, the best is cotton. It will absorb sweat efficiently for better hygiene and there will be no telltale signs. It is also one of the reasons why I like using a cotton yoga mat too.

Yoga pants should above all be lightweight. This will enable the yoga practitioner to have a better idea of his movements. A particular pose would require him to sense the correct position of his leg, for example, and a lightweight pair of pants would facilitate this enormously.

The waistband could be either elastic or drawstring, with the former more suited to a variety of poses and postures. The drawstring feels comfortable but, since there is little room for maneuver, it could become uncomfortable if drawn too tightly. Since breathing exercises are a very important part of yoga practice, an elastic waistband could be very useful.

Yoga pants should accommodate stretching, twisting and bending since certain poses and postures sometimes require a variety of movements. Even though the movements are never done vigorously, they should be done smoothly and fully and a good pair of pants should be able to accommodate all of these requirements.

One thing that should be avoided in a good pair of pants is the presence of flared bottoms. These may look good on the street but on the mat they could even cause accidents. Ankle length pants are the best since they would not interfere with any pose or posture. They could even help you to improve your performance of certain postures because you would be able to see the position of your legs and torso even more clearly.
