Heartgard plus is by far the most popular of all the various heartworm medicine options we have available to us. The fact that we can now buy it at such an affordable price makes it more popular than ever. But what alternatives do we have?

In fact there are quite a few other options available. What we will buy will really be dependent on what we wish to pay and if we want a medication that can also offer protection for other problems too. We can certainly buy a generic form of Heartgard Plus for Dogs that is much lower in price. Valuheart contains the same ingredient for getting rid of heartworms but as it is less branded it is much cheaper. It may not treat for intestinal worms as Heartgard does but for heartworms it is a very cheap alternative.
